Paeroa Highland Games and Tattoo
 


Commencing 6.30pm

The highlight for many attending will be the evening Tattoo. This two and a half hour evening variety spectacular complete with the Paeroa Castle is based on the famous Edinburgh Tattoo in Scotland.

The opening of the 18th Paeroa Highland Games and Tattoo will commence with the singing of both the New Zealand and Australian National Anthems along with the unofficial Scottish anthem “Flower of Scotland” The Mayor of the Hauraki District Council Mr John Tregidga will give a short address followed by the firing of a Poop Deck Cannon.

Let the Tattoo begin!
The opening segment features the first of two Massed Band displays with 250 pipers and drummers and is sure to stir the blood and sends tingles down the spine. During the evening Tattoo, a Trans Tasman Caber challenge will be contested between the two Australians and two Kiwis.
Can the Auzzies restore their pride and win back the title?

Other performers include Highland Dancers, Celtic singers, Mace flourishing, Pipe Bands displays, Ode to the Haggis, Police dogs with further acts to be confirmed. The Tattoo closes with the “Lone Piper” playing, and the singing of “Old Lang Syne”
